WHY IM OKAY WITH TURNING 3-0

As the latest hot saying goes - "I'm now living my best life!"

While I am not there yet, I'm certainly fast approaching the end of another decade of my life (gosh that makes me sound ancient!) lets say period instead 😂! Sitting only 3 months away from turning the big 3-0 I've started to reflect on the things I've accomplished. So I thought I'd share just some of the things that have made the last 29 years blooming fantastic.

1 - Lets be obvious here, I made it to 29!

2 - Family and the friends I've made - Obviously second to me actually turning 3-0, Ive had substantial help in getting here and can only thank my amazing family and the support network of friends who have helped me along the way. They've stood with me and supported me in my goals and achievements and even encouraged me to do some crazy things.

3 - I checked out of college with Distinction results and couldn't have been prouder of my time spent in education - Whilst at school I encountered crappy times like we all do, whilst were working out who we are and who we want to be are some of the hardest times for a teenager. Luckily for me I managed to turn things around and finish high school with decent grades and go onto college to study Computer Science. Not to everyones taste but it got me to Disney Land Paris for 3 days for £100!

4 - Running my first and only half marathon -  I say only because god did it hurt like hell! The feeling of overwhelming proudness crossing the finish line will no doubt be a feeling I will never get again. Its a hell of a long way and you really don't realise what you've signed up for until the training kicks in and your running 9-10 miles knowing theres still 3 more to add on. I have a new found deep respect for long distance runners! I bow down to you!

5 - Skydiving from a bloody great height - Thanks to Katie for making this possible.. although at the time I'm not sure I wanted to thank her! It was probably the most terrifying thing I've done in my life and again cant say its something ill be in a rush to try again. I actually did write an entire post on this experience here.

6 - Seeing the world - Literally thank my parents for this one who have always encouraged me to travel. I have seen some amazing places in 29 years and consider this my best accomplishment to date. Ive been super lucky to see the places I've seen, and I have worked super hard to make it happen.

7 - Changing career at 29 - I worked in the same office building for 10 years, the majority of my working life spent with the same 3-4 people. It was a massive risk when I decided to up and leave and start somewhere new, especially considering that neither job had anything in common. I went from being someones assistant in an accounting office to working on a moving train in First Class travelling up and down the country. No big change there right?!

8 - Acquiring a mortgage in principle - This to some will seem inadequate for the list, but to me this was a major plus! Since splitting with my partner back in January id thought this was a far off dream, in my big life plan (you know those milestones we set ourselves to achieve in life), id said I wanted to own my own house by the time I turned 3-0. Its probably my biggest disappoint, but I've just had to change the way I look at it and know that I will achieve it now, it will just be a little later than planned.

Whilst theres been good in 29 years its not all been perfect, failed relationships & engagements, lost friends and loved ones. But its how we handle things and move forward that matters. So long as you find a reason to pick up and move forward your already winning at life. With a holiday to Mexico looming I have decided to use it as an ending. Ive given myself long enough to mope around and be angry at things and people, to lose focus and motivation to do the things I love. So with that in mind heres another list of things that are going to be different.

1 - Getting back into fitness - Its silly really as its always been something I've enjoyed, I've had a gym membership for like forever and haven't been in months. I want to get back into running and reignite my passion for it. I lost motivation and have struggled to find a reason to go back. But now I'm going back for me, which I've only just realised is the only reason I ever needed. Id also like to give a massive shoutout and mention to Lucy Arnold, a local Clothing Brand creator and an amazing inspiration to me and other women. I HIGHLY recommend a visit to her website to purchase the Craziest, Loudest most gorgeous gym Leggings a girl could own. When your about to say screw you world I'm doing this for me, these are the leggings you should be doing it in! Find them here - https://locketloves.com. Also her facebook community of ladies and gents is inspiring and encouraging and I'm so glad I found them!

2 - Making more of my spare time - At current I've turned into a hermit, I cant remember the last time I went out on a dinner date with friends or to the Cinema. Theres so many things I love doing but I cant say I've wanted to do any of them. Whilst my new job is a lot more tiring as well as time consuming, I've let the feeling carry on and carry on knowing that work isn't the reason I don't go out. I need to push myself to start enjoying life again knowing that whats in the past is in the past and only I can change the present and the future.

3 - SAVE save SAVE - Yes I intend on doing more but I also need to factor in the saving side of things, if id known I would be looking to purchase a house SOLO id have started this ALONG time ago. My advice to people would be enjoy life, do the things you love, but always prepare for the future even if its only £50 a month. You WILL thank yourself in the long run.

In 29 years Ive had some major highs and some major lows, but I guess you cant have one without the other or life would be boring. I wouldn't change anything I've done or experienced as its made me the person I am now. Im a lot more confident and outgoing, and maybe even a little more approachable, Im definitely a lot more positive and relaxed than I used to be. So I'm actually okay with turning 30 soon, Ive accomplished a lot already. Here's to the next 30, may they be as eventful as the last.

What are you most proud of so far? Whats your biggest accomplishment?...

OLD ENGLISH COMPANY | LOCAL BUSINESS REVIEW SERIES

For a while now I have been apart of a website that helps bloggers like myself promote businesses either in return for money or free trial gifts. However over the last few months I've thought more and more about the smaller local firms that don't get as much exposure and have been wondering if there was something I could do to rectify it, maybe inline with what I do with said website or completely on my own. Until an opportunity recently arose and I tied the two together to get the ball rolling, everyone let me introduce you to the lovely people at the Old English Company. This will be my first Local Business Support Advertisement and I hope I do them proud!

You may have noticed if your an avid reader of First For Everything that a new page has been added, titled Advertisers. Here you will be able to find all of the local companies I have worked with and any offers they may have going along with a brief about what you can purchase from each one. Shortly, Old English Company will be added to start the page going!

So anyway! Back to them!

The Old English Company are a brand who specialise in Stationary and Homeware using the art of quirky calligraphy quotes and there own humorous style. Based in Stamford all of their products are made here in England and are all within anyones price range. Local firms sometimes have to compromise there prices due to the costs involved in making there products, however the Old English Company have kept all their items within anyones grasp even a bargain hunter like me! I already want to own half the website.

On there you can find all manor of items including coasters, mugs, calendars, cards and prints. But for all of you reading this that know me, you know my heart will lie with the Stationary page. However much I adore the key-rings and Enamel Pins with there funny slogans, its the Planner page that draws me in.

You see I have this desire to organise my life, I think I could hold a diary for every single detail of my life from daily habits, expenses to calendar scheduling and reminders. I couldn't possibly keep it all in one because wheres the fun in that! My dad always jokes saying "Kylie does love a list" because I make them for everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. I have so many bits of paper I worry about losing one! But these beauts are A5 sized making them even more perfect and compact and each page contains a daily checklist and room for notes. The only difficulty I'm going to have is picking which colour I prefer!

Currently they are holding a competition to win a set of planners and you betcha ive already entered!
Go on and enter yourselves its not like you've got anything to lose!

Over the next few weeks of April I'm sure you will see more of the Old English Companies products popping up on my social media and here on the blog. Go and give them a visit, I highly doubt you'll manage to leave the site without buying something, personally I haven't managed it yet!

*This post is sponsored by Old English Company and I have collaborated with them on this post, however all views and opinions remain my own and I bloody love the products! I would personally not endorse something I didn't truly love myself.

I GOT THE JOB!

Well haven't we had a wintery white few days, I saw a post on Facebook the other day saying;

"Southerners are going into panic mode, Northerners you'll need ya big coat!"

I literally LOL, its so true, I hate the unpredictability of it all. Can you drive, can't you drive, yes my road looks like its a scene from Narnia but is the main road? So you stand there looking out one of your windows waiting for the cars to go up and down on a road in the distance to see what speed there doing. Even once you've confirmed that looks okay, you have to contemplate the battle its going to take to get to said road. The weather man on the tele tells you, OMG its a blizzard, don't leave your house and you get just a little sceptical because Roger, the weather man, told you last week it was going to be a heat wave and that didn't happen either?! So at this point one of two things happen depending on the type of person you are, your either an A, A would think well I have to go to work, there going to want me in, there going to think badly of me if I don't show up. OR your a B person, B will think nope, its not happening I can't make it and ring in at 9am to announce they won't be coming in to work at 8pm that evening, its just not possible! LOL!

Anyway, as the title of the post suggests, I got myself a brand spanking new job! After being in the Accounts Department of a local firm, just 10 minutes from my house for the last 10 years, I decided it was time to move onto something new, something a little more me. Don't get me wrong I loved my previous job mainly because of my work mum, it became a second family and something I could rely on. Whilst there I've been through so much and I like to think I've grown from a young, shy girl to a confident young woman.

But last November an opportunity arose and I interviewed for East Midlands Trains for the role of First Class Host. It was something completely random, completely out of my comfort zone and completely different to my previous role. I didn't get the role back in November, however EMT offer a talent pool position if you pass the Assessments and Interviews and once another spot arises they give you a call to offer it and thats exactly what happened back in January. I handed my notice in and finished 3 weeks later and began training on the 12th February. I went from sitting in an office with the same 8 people from 8am - 3.15pm, for ten years with a travelling time of 10 minutes to a staff of over 3000, numerous shift patterns and a travelling time of 40 minutes each way.

I haven't looked back for a second since starting my training, Ive almost completed three weeks, two in classroom learning all about the tracks and track safety, what the role involves, and a very useful behavioural course which I really enjoyed. This last week I've been out on shift with my mentor, she's absolutely fantastic and a credit to EMT. Everyone I have met so far has been super friendly and really welcoming, there isn't a single thing I haven't enjoyed. I am slowly getting the hang of it and can't wait to learn everything about being a host.

This has been why FFE has been a little quiet lately guys, I have had soooo much going on and getting used to the shift patterns has been interesting but I am trying to get organised!

Ill be sure to keep you updated how its going etc, but for now I gotta actually go do some work! The 17.29 is calling my name haha!

THE TRAVEL TAG

Good Morning and HELLO February!.....I feel like I'm back, and I'm ready to start 2018. January was just a trial month to see how much crap I could take. Welllll...... crap taken and I wish for no more of that for the next 11 months. Please. Thank You.

Moving onward and upward then, being a travel loving person who cant sit still and absolutely hates having NOTHING booked, I figured what better post to start with than a Travel Tag, thanks to Kelly Diane for the blog inspiration. Me and the pooch have spent way too much time eyeing up inspiration for this years travels not to write a post like this! (P.s you'll be seeing a lot more of Frank!)

Its really very simple and anyone can take part, simply copy the questions into a post of your own and answer them. Then if you know some people who you want to nosey into, tag them to complete it too!

Which Countries of the world have you already visited?
Gosh! Lots! Thankfully! Some of my favourites include Singapore, Vietnam, Boracay, Mexico, Jamaica, Kota Kinabalu and Florida. I've been lucky enough to go on quiet a few cruises and visit numerous places each time.

Which destinations are top on your bucket list?
Easy! Unfortunately they are going to remain there for some time though and they are Bali and Thailand.

What is your ideal holiday?
I love sunny holidays, but I like to mix a bit of sight seeing and adventure in. I'm all for finding a lounger and spending the day reading a good book, but if your visiting a new country, you just have to see what else it has to offer.

Which place did you think was so special that you would love to go back?
The only problem with cruises is you very rarely get more than one day, I have to go back to Hong Kong for sight seeing and Boracay for it's beaches.

Show us your nicest holiday photo

Taking my favourite niece too Disney World Florida

Show us your funniest holiday photo

My niece in Florida, this picture was captured at the most priceless moment!

Have you ever travelled for work?
I haven't been that lucky until now, I have only ever worked in an office or a Supermarket. Once I start my new job (more to come on that) ill be able to see and do a lot more travelling. Exciting Times ahead!

Who do you mostly go on a holiday with?
My parents, they are amazing for encouragement to see the world. Dont get me wrong, I always pay for my own holidays, I just enjoy travelling with them and seeing places I wouldn't necessarily see any other way.

Who would you like to go on vacation with?
I haven't had the opportunity to travel with my best friend Katie abroad yet, so that would be really nice one day.

Who or what would you take to an uninhabited island?
My friends, family and some very good books!

Would you rather go to an amusement park or a zoo?
I actually really like both, previously at Kota Kinabalu we had the oppurtunity to go the Lok Kawi Wildlife Park. It was out of this world, they had so many animals I'd never seen before and so many Elephants! (My favourite!)

Would you rather go on a ski or sun holiday?
In all honesty im not a cold loving person, in the UK or abroad. I hate being cold, I think the only time I would ever go somewhere cold is when I finally visit Lapland. I much prefer the heat and the sun, both for exploring and relaxing.

What is your nicest holiday memory?
My favourite holiday memory has to be in Vietnam, we took an off the beaten track tour provided by the cruise ship. We were able to ride bicycles through the paddy fields and watch the locals working. After that, we were treated to a local meal at a restaurant, it was.. erm.. an experience!

Which countries are you going on holiday to this year?
At the moment of writing this I have Bulgaria booked for a trip in June with family and friends, then im hoping to book somewhere further afield, hopefully Cuba for October.

Where would you never go on holiday?
Greenland.. ?

If im honest, i've really enjoyed writing this post and hopefully you can take inspiration and enjoy writing your own Travel Tag post! For now, I'll tag Kayleigh @ Hazelnut Musings because for some reason shes a new blogger to me and her posts are BingeWorthy!

Beauty Advent Calendars 2017

Lets talk beauty. Lets talk Advent Calendars. Lets talk how I totally missed when this became a thing!..  I guess I missed when advent calendars stopped being filled with chocolate and you had to watch your sister every waking minute, so she didn't shake them all to the bottom and leave all the doors surprisingly EMPTY. (Yes Samantha.. here's looking at you!) I was thinking of doing this post as part of #Blogmas but it just felt too late so here it is.. in November. Nice and early!

There seems to be LOADS to choose from this year and I personally still haven't decided which one I want. I've also seen so many posts detailing how amazing some of them are and how difficult it is to make a decision thats going to last 24/25 days! I mean come on what if I get to door 12 and feel like I chose wrong? Can I take it back and swap for a different 12 days?

So instead of telling you about ALL the advent calendars out there, which im sure your all perfectly capable of looking for and already are, im going to list the top 8 im trying to decide between! To take a look yourself click through using the titles.

I've been a fan of the Look Fantastic website for quite some time, they have some amazing deals on the biggest brands and I have to be careful with my bank card! So when I saw this 'Beauty' come out, it was always going to be high on the list! Not only does it contain some great products the packaging is so god damn aesthetically pleasing! With 9 full sized products and 16 deluxe samples it’s worth the price tag at £79.00.

Who doesn't love S&G products, its pretty much a guaranteed thanks to the lovely Boots 342 deals that everyone ends up with something from S&G at Christmas. I've seen loads in Boots on the deal that I know I want, I do wonder if the pink packaging helps it sell so well! Priced at £40.00 and also part of the 3for2 Boots deal!

I came across the Bare Minerals brand at a Makeup Master class in Nottingham. I was wowed by the coverage and pleased with all the products that came in the start up package. Overtime I have drifted away from the brand but only because of wanting to try others. I still have many of their products in my stash and revert back often. With 24 days of their most used products it’s ideal for someone wanting to try out the brand although a little pricey at £75.00.

I've shortlisted this one mainly because I’m trying to work out my skincare regime. What better way to do that than to try out several products from the same brand. Clarins are a well known skincare brand and at £60.00 or 12 days it seems fairly priced for the contents.

I’m going to make a huge confession and say that i thought Jack Wills was a brand for men. Ooops! My bad! It wasn’t until I looked at the contents of this advent calendar and realised it contained Nail Polish. So I have added this one as a new brand to discover! Priced at £35 it seems reasonable and also part of Boots 3for2 deal.

This came up recently when I was looking through other posts about Advent Calendars so I checked it out on Amazon. Looking at the brands it contains it seems a good deal for the £50 price tag. Whilst I love branded cosmetics it’s always nice to be given the option to try several different products from different brands all in one go.

Sleek is a brand I already love, there highlighter palettes are to die for.  I’ve tried a few of their other products and the advent includes products from brushes to palettes so it seems like a good purchase. Priced at £35 and also part of Boots 3for2 deal. (Notice there are 3 advents in this post ALL on the Boots 3for2 deal, see where I’m going with this!)

This one made the list for the same reason as the Look Fantastic and Amazon calendars, because it contains many different brands. From NYX to Rimmel and Revlon I’ve heard of the majority of brands included and at £35.00 still affordable.

So there are my 2017 choices, im not one for spending ridiculous amounts of money due to the fact that I never have ridiculous amounts of money! They are all reasonably priced for the contents and I think due to my wanting for Skin Care its probably going to be either the Clarins or one of the multi branded Calendars that I end up purchasing.

Have any of you lucky devils already purchased yours? Did you open all the days in one go? Share your advice in the comments below and help a girl out!

5 Things I've learnt owning a Bulldog

Its been six months since we brought home our gorgeous English Bulldog puppy - Frank. Hes still as gorgeous now as the first day we brought him home. I thought I would give you a quick update on how hes getting on and the top 5 things I have learnt about owning a Bulldog.

1| English Bulldogs are extremely loving, they do not like being alone if they know your around. Frank literally follows us around the house like a cat would. If we are sat in the kitchen he will sleep on the tiled floor rather than the carpeted floor in the living room, solely because your not in the living room! You also cant get anything important like writing this blog post done without a cute face appearing over the top of your laptop! Who can be mad at that face though!?

2| The best purchase we have made for Frank is his harness, it prevents pulling on his neck muscles when he tries to pull on his lead. Normal leads attach to a dogs collar, but this one attaches to the harness itself allowing the pull to be placed on the front of the harness rather than around his neck. In the six months with us he has had two of these, a small in blue and his new medium size in Green, there is plenty of growing room in each size its just Bulldogs put on weight, fast. They can be purchased here on Amazon and I would recommend them to anyone!

3| English Bulldogs grow FAST, when I say fast I mean fast. Frank is only 9 months old and already weighs three stone. He is capable of using his weight for many things including sitting on you when you least expect it. Hes heavy and still thinks he can fit in the same spaces as he did when he was a little puppy including between your legs when you sit on the floor. This is NOT the case!

4| You see this "I've done something" face, its a pre warning. When people think about buying an English Bulldog the first thing they learn from research is they snore and they fart. Both of which are more than true. Frank can clear a room in seconds and make you want to gag daily! He stinks! As for snoring, dont get comfy in front of a good film without holding on to the remote, you'll be turning up the volume several times once they drift off.

5| Obviously I am biased because hes my puppy but I wouldn't change him for the world, hes a lot more intellectual than he looks, he has picked up the majority of things super fast! However, my last big learning curve is that these breeds take A LOT of looking after. Everyone sees this cute bundle of fat that doesn't seem able to grow into his face rolls, however thats where he requires help. Frank has his face wiped daily with sensitive baby wipes so that his rolls dont get sore due to the tears from his eyes. They get very red and very sore and need to be kept dry, the lucky thing is that these dogs are so lazy they doesn't care about you doing it.

So thats Frank at nine months! He has an amazing character and makes me smile all the time, even when hes trying to hump my leg late at night! Oh yes, my boy has some definite bowchickawowow love making skills!

Shout up in the comments below with what pets you own and there most ridiculous traits!

Buckingham Mews Tour London

Last Friday we made a quick dash weekend trip to Roydon, just outside of London. This was actually the third time I've been this year to Roydon Marina, its in a perfect location for getting into London for the day. The train station is literally just outside the marina and is about a 5 minute walk along the canal.

My niece decided she wanted to go and check out the Buckingham Mews tour, so we booked it online before we went. Shes already done the Buckingham Palace tour and absolutely loved it but this time she wanted to check out the horses. The Mews tour is quiet good in that you dont have to book a time slot you can just turn up at anytime of day with your ticket and go in. It is located at the side of Buckingham Palace on Palace road, (who wouldn't want to live on PALACE ROAD)!

Once inside you receive a helpful audio guide in the way of a little tablet and some headphones and as you walk round you click the relevant dialogue. Its actually really good and tells you a lot of things you probably didn't already know. My niece loved listening to it and looking at the horses, the queen names every single one of them herself.

After meeting Claudia, Storm and Firework, we walked outside into the courtyard to look at the carriages. The Queen has a different carriage for each state tour, including Ireland and Scotland.

The carriages are gorgeous and a marvel to engineering and architectural abilities. The attention to detail is amazing and the paintwork is incredible. I love our royals and everything that our country stands for. I found it interesting to know that Buckingham Palace has eight chauffeurs but only three drive the Royal herself. I did wonder who drives her to the shop late at night when she decides she has a craving for Hobnobs!.

The most dazzling coach on display at Buckingham Mews has to be the The Golden State Coach, it is used at coronations and such like.

"The gilded eight horse-drawn State Coach. Designed by William Chambers (1723-96) and made by the coachmaker Samuel Butler; featuring painted panels by Giovanni Cipriani (1727-85) and richly gilded carved sculpture by the carver Joseph Wilton (1722-1803), the gilder Henry Pujolas and the metal chaser George Coyte. Three cherubs on the roof (representing England, Ireland and Scotland) support the Imperial Crown and four tritons, one at each corner (representing Britain's imperial power). The body of the coach is slung by braces covered with Morocco leather with gilt buckles. The interior is lined and upholstered with velvet and satin."

The tour itself is good value for money and worth a wander around, you will probably only need around an hour to do it in full. Its easy to slip into a hectic day in London if you want to do a little bit of sightseeing too. We then headed off to Oxford Street for tea and cake at Cafe Concerto, (the staff in there could do with some manners if im being honest)! Then over to Harrods to linger over the chocolate counters and expensive clothing and for my niece to NOT decide which car in the kids collection she wanted!

Have you visited anywhere worth seeing in London? Anything thats a little off the beaten tourist track? Im always looking for new and exciting places to visit in and outside of London or anywhere in the UK, so comment with your recommendations!

Hello September

September is upon us already.. not to sound cliche but where the hell did the year go? I feel like only two minutes ago we were celebrating Christmas and now its nearly here again! Time really does seem to be moving so fast this year and I cant keep up with it. Im so excited that September is here though, it feels like ive been looking forward to it for such a long time! It brings holidays and parties, come on who doesn't love both.

This weekend I will be off down to a lovely place in Roydon called Roydon Marina Village, I have stayed numerous times now and I still absolutely love it. Its unusual for me to be okay with visiting the same place but ill make an exception here. We always stay in a Roydon VIP Lodge as they have there own private hot tubs. full lounge and dining area. The marina is lovely for a walk round but the best part about it is the close proximity to the train station (literally outside the gate). You can get to London on the train in around 30 minutes which is perfect for a London lover like me. The self catering lodges all come fully equipped with two bedrooms, one double and one twin, usually both on suite, full kitchen, dining and lounge area with TV. Its like a home away from home with the added bonus of a Hot Tub (unless your lucky enough to have one at home). Every time we go I always end up in the Hot Tub passing away the time with a glass of Rose and a good book. Its a lovely place to relax and let the world pass you by without a single care except for what to have for dinner. For more info see here, and a more in-depth post will go up once im back.

After a lovely relaxing week it will be straight back into it with a 10K race on Sunday 17th September in my local town of Mansfield. I love to run so im looking forward to this one as it will be the first local race ive taken part in.

September also holds one of the most important dates of this year..... my best-friends Hen Party. The excitement for this is immense and im trying so hard to contain it. Everything's been planned to a T! I cant talk about it just yet but be sure with her consent the nights antics will appear on the blog at some point, maybe after we have all finished recovering!

What do you all have planned for September? Share and let me know I love to read your comments!

We got a Puppy!

This dog loves to sunbathe!

Followers please meet Frank, our gorgeous, loving and completely lazy new puppy! Life's been a little hectic over the last couple of weeks since we picked him up so im afraid FFE took a little bit of a back seat. But now we are all settled into some kind of a routine I am back.

Weekend in Birmingham

As many of my Insta followers will know, this last weekend I took a short break in Birmingham. Whilst there I visited the Glee Comedy Club and Birmingham's Bullring Shopping Center.

Prestige Flower Company

When receiving flowers via a delivery I believe there are two types of people. Those really surprised, shocked and down right embarrassed and then those who act like its nothing out of the ordinary and receive them ALL the time.

Places to visit in Wales

This weekend myself and my boyfriend took a little break to Wales, its a place I have always wanted to visit. The lure of the countryside, fresh air, quaint towns had always been in the back of my mind when it came to deciding on a holiday destination within the UK.

Disney on Ice

Saturday was the day my 8 year old niece has been waiting for since last August. For her birthday she was gifted tickets to see the Disney on Ice show at our local Ice Arena. We have both been before but she was much younger then and couldn't completely appreciate what was happening in the show.
